Welcome to Ten Questions
A brand new blog series of ‘Ten Questions With…’ where we’ll be diving in behind the scenes, to find out more about the people you’ll come across at The Arch London.
First up is Sales Executive, Sophie Imrie. As a lady that screams enthusiasm for life and will always greet you with the warmest welcome, Sophie was the perfect person to begin this insider series, sharing some insight into what she’s all about – enjoy!
1) What do you enjoy most about your job?
Firstly, the humans (both those behind the scenes and those who arrive as a guest). Secondly, being organised and making lists and finally, creating and constructing delightful events. Oh, and spending my days in a 5*hotel isn’t too bad either…
2) How long have you worked for The Arch London?
The adventure began one day back in May 2017.
3) What did you want to be when you were younger?
It ranged from a worldwide explorer, travel agent, air hostess, dressmaker, working in an airport, teacher, photographer, blogger, cake maker. However, I have never fancied the life of an astronaut.
4) What are your aspirations for the future?
Strong question, with lots of answers…
5) What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Lots of socialising. Wining and dining. Rather a lot of exploring London – I am a big fan of a Sunday wander; a market, a roast in a great London pub, a hidden craft beer find. Fridays, you can find me on the way to Kings Cross, travelling up north or wherever the party is planned. Often chatting to my regular train-traveller-friends, playing the game to see which train to board, before the platform is announced (winning every time may I add).
6) What are you passionate about?
People. My work. A daily dose of meditation.
7) Describe the hotel you work for in 3 words?
Elegant, Quality & Genuine
8) What is the best hotel you’ve ever stayed in and where in the world was it?
I have a list of let’s say ‘interesting’ sleep locations from my spot of backpacking around the world. I am not about the ‘naming and shaming’ so let’s just say I learnt fast how to sleep with a hoodie on (covered in Jo Malone perfume on the inside of the hood – for smelling purposes) over my face. Again, while backpacking those ‘treat yo’self’ hotel-stops, severely required 5* stops included a trusty Mandarin Oriental, Marina Bay Sands, Shangri-La, Lebua Tower and such. It really is all about balance and testing 5* whenever possible!
9) What couldn’t you live without?
Again, difficult question. Work wise: my to do lists, colour coded diary along with the hidden snack and coffee stash.
10) Best advise you’ve ever been given?
It’s always nice to be nice.
